Join us for a guided museum tour and 1.5-mile hike through the dramatic Jemez Red Rocks, starting at the Walatowa Visitor Center. Your guide — an enrolled member of Jemez — will walk you through the museum before leading you out onto the trail, sharing the geology behind these towering red cliffs and the history of the Jemez Valley and the Jemez People.
The trail calls for moderate fitness, and we keep our groups small — 2 to 14 guests — for a personal experience.
The hike's crown jewel comes at the very end: a hidden slot canyon where temperatures drop as much as 15 degrees cooler than the trail above. It's a striking, welcome bit of relief, especially during the summer heat.
